ÇAVUŞIN'İN KISA TARİHİ
Çavuşin'in tarihi erken Hıristiyan dönemine dayanır. Bizans toplulukları burada gelişmiş, yumuşak volkanik tüfe kayalara kiliseler ve evler oyarak inşa etmişlerdir. Zamanla erozyon ve depremler birçok yerliyi mağara evlerini terk etmeye zorlamış olsa da, tarihi cazibe hala bozulmadan kalmıştır. Köyün en önemli sitesi, 5. yüzyıla tarihlenen ve Kapadokya'daki en eski ayakta kalan kiliselerden biri olan St. John the Baptist Kilisesi'dir.
