Constantinople was the capital of the Greco-Roman empire for more than 10 centuries. During that time, emperors of the New Roman Empire has spent a lot to establish the most beautiful city of all time, and they managed by the 10th Century. Constantinople was a mouthwatering city for all the world's commanders, but only one could pass the gigantic walls of the city. Our guide will pick you up from your hotel to take you on a journey in time into the ages of the Roman Empire. You will first walk in the Hippodrome, the social center, and a stadium, where the Greco-Romans watched horse races. The Obelisk of Thutmose III, The Walled Obelisk, and the Serpent Column still embellish the quarter. You will continue to the Hagia Sophia then to see the masterpiece of Anatolian Greco-Roman architecture. The huge dome is decorated with mosaics, the main apse, and the upper galleries' walls. The structure was the Eastern Orthodox Church's seat until the 15th Century and was moved to Istanbul's Fener neighborhood. You will go underneath Istanbul to see the big Yerebatan Cistern, which was just one of the palaces' water sources and the city's gardens. Our guide will take you to lunch afterward nearby the Chora Church. Once located outside the city walls, Chora church is now in the middle of Istanbul's attractive old city and preserving Anatolia's best-preserved mosaics. After a coffee break by the church, your guide and driver will drop you at your hotel.
